Our Training Courses

These pages provide detailed information on the content for each stage of the Driving Instructor course with DrivingJobsDirect.co.uk.

Part 1 Part 2 Part 3

Part 1 – Certificate in Advanced Theory of Driving

This is the first stage of becoming a Driving Instructor, allowing you to get a feel for the job before entering the next stage.

Once you’ve signed up for this driver training course, received a clear CRB check and registered with the DSA, you will be provided with your own log-in details, which give you access to your online tutor and all the course materials you will need.

We have an extensive bank of theory test questions and mock test papers for you to test your knowledge and ability.  We also have hazard perception tests for you to practice at your leisure.  Once we have taken you through these, you will be confident in passing your Part 1 test.

You will also be eligible for online support and telephone support for those who prefer to speak with someone, rather than email.

We will guide you through everything you need to do to start your journey and be successful along the way.

In addition to providing the first step towards becoming a Driving Instructor, the Advanced Theory Test Certificate will give you a competitive edge for any driving jobs you choose to pursue.

The Part 1 package costs £249

Part 2 – Driving Ability

This course covers the practical, in-car training sessions to prepare you for the driving ability test, which is the second stage to your Driving Instructor course.

Typically, approximately ten sessions (2 hour sessions) are required to be successful at the Part 2 test, although it is possible to achieve this in fewer sessions.  Our unique ‘Pay As You Go’ payment model means that you only pay for the sessions you need.

You will have access to our online preparation guidance modules and our advanced hazard perception training so you can practice identifying, and responding appropriately to, developing hazards.  This complements your in-car sessions, helping to further prepare you for your Part 2 test and keep your costs low.

The Part 2 package costs £99.

This course package also includes your first in-car, practical training session.  After this, training sessions are charged at £50 per session (all sessions are 2 hours).

As a guide, the average person takes ten sessions before passing their Part 2 test, therefore the total cost for your Part 2 training will be approximately £599*.

Don’t forget, the Part 2 certificate demonstrates your Advanced Driving Ability, which will make you a very attractive candidate for any driving jobs you wish to pursue at this stage.

Part 3 – Instructional Ability

The Part 3 course provides the Instructor training you will need to pass the instructional ability test; the final test required to become an Approved Driving Instructor.

Our Part 3 Driving Instructor course includes your online tutor and all the training materials and support you need to pass your test with the DSA.  The package includes a minimum of 25 hours online training and support – but we will offer you as much time and practice as you need.

The Part 3 package costs £249.

Once you have completed the Part 3 Training, with your Part 2 Certificate you will be eligible to apply for a trainee licence and teach for reward prior to sitting the Part 3 test.

The DSA state that a minimum 40 hours training is required, 25% of which must be in-car, before being eligible to apply for a trainee licence.  In-car training sessions are charged at £50 per 2 hour session, resulting in the average cost of passing the Part 3 course as £649*.

*These figures are approximate and based on the DSA's minimum requirements. Individual requirements may vary.
